様々なランキングを発表するComplex.comが「ヒップホップ史に残る名トラック TOP 100」(The 100 Greatest Hip-Hop Beats of All Time)リストを発表

1980年代、90年代、00年代、そして10年代と過去30年以上に渡ってリリースされたヒップホップの名曲の中から、長い目で見てシーンに影響を与えたビートの数々をセレクトしている

ただこのようなリストを作る場合、

「どうしてこの曲が入ってないの?」

「あの曲よりこっちが上?」

という指摘や不満の声が挙がるのは当然なので、
「多くのクラシックが選外となり、複数の名曲を持つプロデューサーの場合は全部を反映できなかった。
しかし最終的には、このリストに載ったトラックはヒップホップが前進する上で欠かせなかった曲ばかり」
と前置きした上で、TOP 100の発表を行っている

ちなみにこのリストが発表されると、普段あまりツイートをしないDr.Dreがリストへの直リンクをツイッターに貼っている
